From incorporation to AIM flotation

Big Technologies was incorporated in 2017 and developed through the Buddi electronic-monitoring business, which serves the criminal-justice market. In 2021 the company completed an admission to AIM, giving the group a public market listing and access to capital-market investors. The admission documents set out the company's business, its governance and the interests of its directors and shareholders at that time.

Subsequent events — described in detail across this investigation — have led Big Technologies to allege that the stated extent of founder Sara Murray's interest in the company at the time of admission was affected by interests or relationships she is said to have failed to disclose. Those allegations are addressed on the IPO Questions page and remain disputed.

The 2025 crisis and its consequences

On 31 March 2025 Big Technologies announced that it had dismissed founder and CEO Sara Murray, terminated her employment and removed her as a director with immediate effect, and that it had commenced proceedings in the High Court. That announcement began a period of corporate turmoil that has since encompassed:

  • High Court proceedings between Big Technologies and its former CEO;
  • a separate dispute with former Buddi shareholders, settled in January 2026 for £38.5 million;
  • substantial legal expenditure recognised in the audited accounts;
  • an almost complete turnover of the board; and
  • continuing litigation, with mediated discussions ending in September 2026.

Despite the litigation-related charges, the company's underlying operations continued to generate revenue and adjusted EBITDA. The 2025 audited results reported £49.727m of revenue and £24.6m of adjusted EBITDA, against a £23.015m statutory operating loss that reflected settlement and legal-cost provisions. This site records both the adverse developments and the continuing commercial operations.
